Shimano RS10 road wheelset review

The quality of the components in the RS10 wheels is good. The hubs are smooth and easy rolling, and Shimano's use of angular contact bearings (the bearing races are asymmetric, like a headset's) and good seals should keep them so. Individually the straight-pull spokes are laterally stiffer than other bladed spokes, as they're thicker (1.7mm), and Shimano claims a side-to-side stiffness boost from the use of an unusually offset rear rim.

Disappointingly, the build quality could be better: it's only fair. The front wheel became slightly out of true during testing, and the somewhat uneven spoke tension suggests it would deteriorate further. But it's a sweet running and not-too-heavy wheelset, requiring only moderate spoke key work to keep in check.
