Hutchinson Equinox road tyre review

Hutchinson's Equinox road tyre is billed as high performance but economical. Well, it's a tenner cheaper than most training tyres, and grip is good. The rubber may be reinforced with thermoplastic to improve wear life, but the compound doesn't feel or ride plasticky like some cheaper tyres.

Rolling performance is unexceptional, and it's not very tough either, particularly the easily cut sidewalls. A tougher version – the Equinox Kevlar ProTech – costs £3 more. There's also a wire bead version for just £14.99.
