Bontrager RXL road shoes review

The RXL’S lining has excellent retentive properties – your foot slides in with the grain but can’t slide out as easily against it, which contributes to the good level of heel hold. There’s no Boa Lacing System but the Velcro tabs pull tight more easily than most.

The tough ratchet has a simple one-step release that’s easy to use without looking down. However, we did run out of teeth on the strap, as though the RXLs had been made for fat feet. It just about went tight enough for us but if your feet are flatter then it may not be up to scratch. That niggle aside, the RXLs are a really stiff and comfortable option.
