Paul Hewitt has built wheels for pro teams, and it shows. Our test wheelset remained perfectly round and true, and the elbow-bend spokes' tension was both consistent and high. Plain gauge spokes are used on the drive side rear for strength, with double-butted elsewhere.
To fit our £300 budget, Hewitt selected Miche Primato hubs and Ambrosio Excellight SSC rims. While not the lightest, the modest weight difference will lose you far less time than the brake rub you'll get from lighter, less well-built wheels going out of true.
