Cole are a new wheel building outfit from the US, now distributed in the UK by Evans Cycles. We rode the C85 Lite, their 85mm deep section wheels, with all-carbon rims suitable for clincher tyres. They're ideal for riders who want to cut drag but don't want the hassle of carrying a spare tubular tyre.
Handmade, they feature Cole's unique DSA system (Dynamic Spoke Alignment). This means spokes are straight, without the normal j-bend at the end. They can rotate within the hub-flange so they self-align, improving spoke tension, durability and wheel alignment. The result is a set of wheels that responded instantly when we applied power, and gave surefooted control around bends. They make your bike look great too. They just don't have the same level of aero R&D that other big-name wheels do.
