The tighter a jersey fits, the more important proper cut and materials become. Castelli nail it with the Velocissimo Equipe jersey, which offers great on-the-bike fit, quality materials and no gimmicky design work.
The shoulder design is important, as the sleeves are inset with the riding position in mind.
Some casual cycling jerseys are made like T-shirts, with inset shoulders aligned for your arms being down by your side, as they are when you walk. This can make the jersey look good when you try it on in a store, but mean the top bunches uncomfortably when you ride, especially if you like to wear a snug jersey.

The Jacquard elastic band makes for a snug, tidy hem
The jersey uses a Jacquard elastic band at the rear hem. This is the type of material often used for the branded waistbands of designer boxers. Performance-wise, it’s no different from a standard waistband, and provides some branding for Castelli.
Castelli have resisted the trend for overdoing the pockets – three standard compartments with a little elastic at the openings do the trick.
Other details include subtle reflectors near the waist, a hidden full zip and an XYZ zipper that you can open by pulling the jersey on with one hand when the lever is up.
