Platypus Origin 9 Hydration Pack review

With its sleek design the Origin 9 is easy to keep clean, but what pockets it does have on the outside are well specified. Elastic opening pockets on the waist belt are a real plus as they are accessible on the move for energy bars, GPS or multitool, and the large pocket on the back is great for stowing wet jackets.

This is extra handy because the bag is made from waterproof material with welded seams and waterproof zips, a rarity in hydration packs. We really liked the high-flow from the top quality reservoir with its quick-disconnect hose too. The pack has no MTB-specific features though. A downside is that, apart from the reservoir compartment, there is only one large compartment for everything, with one small zipped mesh pocket inside.
