Hutchinson Atom Comp Reinforced Tyre review

Hutchinson’s new race tyre is a lightened version of the durable Fusion 3, and is an impressive performer.

Weight is low, so acceleration is good and straight line speed rapid, with a buoyant, fluid ride over rougher tarmac.

Once the slippery silicone moulding coating has scrubbed off, the semi-textured thermoplastic tread compound gives confident cornering that you can push to a predictable drift on clean circuits.

Despite its relatively low weight, the tyre’s proving tough in terms of puncture proofing and tread life, which compensates for the cost.
