Topeak Whitelite HP 10W Mega front light review

Topeak's Mid-weight, mid-power, mid-price lamp is well made, but the focused beam points it towards less technical XC or road use. The magnesium head is relatively tall – particularly if using the supplied helmet mount – making it crash/ branch vulnerable. The square O-ring-secured foot is wobble-free on rough trails and the square collar connectors push in very firmly. The depth of the stepped solid case battery can make it awkward to fit to some curvy or fat tubed frames so check before you buy.

The ringed lens holds its own in terms of focused Lux and reach down the trail. The ragged edge of the central beam can be distracting when trying to discern detail and there's not much peripheral illumination for twisty trail use apart from a halo ring just ahead of the bars. This adds useful side visibility for road use. Battery life is good if you want a road/XC lamp.
