VDO A4+ computer review

It's cheap for a wireless computer but you wouldn’t know it from the reliable way in which the A4+ displays essential data. The zip-tied head mount can be set up for bar or stem mounting, the chunky sensor is smoothly shaped and the magnet fits both round and bladed spokes.

Transmission distance is good too (more than a metre) if you’ve got a high handlebar setup or are using the device on tri-bars. While it’s an analogue rather than coded digital signal we had no interference, and you get an impressive five-year warranty. The twin rubber buttons also have a positive click for easy operation even with winter gloves on.

The two-line display is easy to read, showing auto start/stop speed at the top and clock, trip and total distance below – you’ll need to calculate averages in your head, but considering the cost and competence elsewhere, we’re not complaining.
